Confident in working with information and ideas – their own and those of others
PPS learners are confident, secure in their knowledge, unwilling to take things for granted and ready to take intellectual risks. They are keen to explore and evaluate ideas and arguments in a structured, critical and analytical way. They are able to communicate and defend views and opinions as well as respect those of others. They work together to become confident and skillful learners.
Responsible for themselves, responsive to and respectful of others.
PPS learners take ownership of their learning, set targets and insist on intellectual integrity. They define learning goals and problems that are meaningful to them develop standards of excellence; and evaluate how well they have achieved their goals. They are collaborative and supportive. They understand that their actions have impacts on others and on the environment. They appreciate the importance of culture, context and community. They know their own strengths and weaknesses and know how to deal with them productively and constructively
Reflective as learners, developing their ability to learn.
PPS learners understand themselves as learners. They are concerned with the processes as well as the products of their learning and develop the awareness and strategies to be lifelong learners. They thoughtfully consider the world and their own ideas and experience. They work to understand their strengths and weaknesses in order to support their learning and personal development.
Innovative and equipped for new and future challenges
PPS learners welcome new challenges and meet them resourcefully, creatively and imaginatively. They are divergent thinkers who believe in their own experience, excel in viewing concrete situations from many perspectives, and model themselves on those they respect. They are capable of applying their knowledge and understanding to solve new and unfamiliar problems. They can adapt flexibly to new situations requiring new ways of thinking.
Engaged intellectually and socially, ready to make a difference.
PPS learners are alive with curiosity, embody a spirit of enquiry and want to dig more deeply. They are keen to learn new skills and are receptive to new ideas. They work well independently but also with others. They become producers of knowledge, capable of making significant contributions to the world’s knowledge. Hence, they are equipped to participate constructively in society and the economy – locally, nationally and globally.
Balanced means to understand the importance of intellectual, physical and emotional balance.
PPS learners understand the importance of balancing different aspects of their lives-intellectual, physical, and emotional-to achieve well-being for theirselves and others. They recognize their interdependence with other people and with the world in which they live.
Communicator work effectively and willingly in collaboration with others.
PPS Learners express theirselves confidently and creatively in more than one language and in many ways. They collaborate effectively, listening carefully to the perspectives of other individuals and groups.
Inquirer always asks questions and develops their curiosity.
PPS Learners nurture their curiosity, developing skills for inquiry and research. They know how to learn independently and with others. They learn with enthusiasm and sustain their love of learning throughout life.
Open-Minded always keep an open mind and a compassionate heart.
PPS Learners critically appreciate their own cultures and personal histories, as well as the values and traditions of others. They seek and evaluate a range of points of view, and they are willing to grow from the experience.
