A’Level Section

Progressive Public School is re-launching its A-Level programme from the next academic year i.e. starting from August 2016. PPS has created an environment necessary to develop academic artistic and sporting skills under the thoughtful guidance of the highly qualified and experience faculty that is equal to the best anywhere. Our mission is to enable students to work effectively, communicate articulately, and approach life with competence and use to the fullest gifts God has endowed upon us.

Unlike O-Level the A-Level course offers only three optional subjects with mandatory A/S English General Paper. Applicants may choose any group from the subject groups given below. Higher Math, Law, Urdu or Foreign Language (Chinese, Spanish or French) may be taken as an additional subject. Combination not listed will not be approved.

GROUP 1         GROUP 2         GROUP 3                   GROUP 4           GROUP 5

BIOLOGY              CHEMISTRY         MATH                                MATH                      MATH

PHYSICS               PHYSICS               PHYSICS                           ECONOMICS          BUSINESS STUDIES

Care should be taken that the group chosen is the right one. As A-Level Course is considerably different from the O-Level, students should take some time to find out what is involved in these courses. They are advised to opt for courses of genuine interest.

Book knowledge or textual knowledge must not be made a base for A-Level Course. Students must use their initiative to further their ability through self study and research work. Regular reading, discussions and dialogues would most certainly help in promoting academic prowess and expertise.

Subjects once chosen will not be dropped or changed. In case it becomes a necessity, will only be allowed within 7 working days after admission.

A-Level Course involves two full years of study. Evaluation process of students will start from day one. Assessment tests will be conducted twice in a year which will help the students to assess their progress and react accordingly. The assessment test results will be duly signed by the parents too. Any student taking any external, examination such as TOEFL or SAT will not be exempted from any internal examination.
